Breaking: Exotic Animals Actually Missing Persons!
"I was kidnapped, transfigured, and forced to learn carnival tricks for treats!" claims Agape Lestrange
A miscast spell has revealed a terrible secret behind Lansing's escaped creatures. Dozens of exotic animals escaped from a trunk with a faulty expansion charm on February 17th, and the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures has since been busy recovering the errant creatures from around Hogsmeade and the surrounding areas. During their efforts, a miscast spell hit one of the animals and revealed that it was actually a child. After some hysterics, the girl was identified as Agape Lestrange, who went missing from the streets of Hogsmeade on February 1st.
Miss Lestrange was escorted to the Ministry yesterday to make a statement, and claimed that Lansing had abducted her from the streets of Hogsmeade, transfigured her into a phoenix, and attempted to teach her several circus tricks, which she would be expected to perform in his planned traveling menagerie. Lansing has since been taken into custody at the Ministry while these allegations can be investigated. Authorities have warned that while some of the escaped creatures do appear to be transfigured humans, some are in fact wild animals. Citizens who encounter strange animals of any variety are encouraged to contact the Ministry's Improper Use of Magic office directly rather than attempting any de-transfiguration spells themselves.
"Transfiguration at this level is a complex business, and there's many ways it could go wrong, so please don't try anything at home," a representative told the paper.
All transfigured persons already recovered will be returned to their homes following questioning by the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
