Did you know?

The Language of the Flowers was a popular method to express feelings where words might be improper, but did you know other means of doing so? Some ladies used their parasols, as well as their fans, gloves, and hankies to flirt with a gentleman (or alternatively, tell them to shove it!). — Bree

Ester Montgomery for Thomas Montgomery. The one that got away (with the pornographer...)
This boy, then. He wasn't new. Wasn't one of the worst people in the common room, those rotten rich boys - like Mr. Jailkeeper - who could not fathom a world beyond their own farts. Was a good working class lad, so he'd heard. Had a bit of a weird looking face, and a bit of a weird thing for preaching. Still.

Have you got a grand idea for a plot but need a role (or roles) filled in before it can really take off? Post below describing the sort of character you need, your intention for them, and, if possible, how many threads you might require!

For example:

Quote:Wanted for Jeremy Rohlwing: a potioneer he can pay to brew an (unsuccessful) Eyesight-Improving Potion for him. MC/LC AB, professional or amateur, does not have to be reputable. Estimated 1-3 threads. Contact MJ by Skype.

You can be as vague or as detailed as you like! Requests for specific characters to be created must instead be posted in plottable characters. This thread is intended only to recruit existing characters into your schemes.

PMs on this account will not be checked.
Instead, please contact Ursula Black, Aldous Crouch, Cassius Lestrange, Elias Grimstone, Elladora Black, or Elsie Beauregard with any questions, issues, or concerns.

    The Mean Girl Duo

Up until last school year ('87), Sweetie has had at least two girls that she spent a good portion of her time with. These girls are the same year as her, and can be from any house. They would know her quite well, enough to get the girl who refuses to cry, to burst into tears in front of her own brother. Their actions are due to Sweetie's changes in personality, from events that have happened over the summer of '87. (They could also not like Sweetie's friendship with a halfbreed, and are frustrated that Sweetie stood by Crystal through the ban.)

I mainly want them for a few threads, or it could be more. I want to develop what is actually happening to Sweetie that is causing such upset for these other threads. More threads would be excellent. I am open to the outcome of what happens between the girls (whether they become friends again, or they forever stay bitter towards one another). I would prefer that all of these girls be Upper Class, though their Blood Status is completely open.

Though they have backed off this year, that could change for sake of plotting.

The Ally

This person is an outsider to the full conflict, but has felt sympathy for Sweetie. Choosing to stand up to the Slytherin, this student and Sweetie develop a friendship of their own. All of this is going to help with Sweetie's development, and I would love for her to see past class, and be more trusting of some people in the process (as well as see that money isn't everything).

I would prefer that this character does have a lasting connection to Sweetie, though that is up to player. I'd prefer someone who is outside of her family conflict and a Working (or Middle) Class character of similar age to Sweetie (preferably in her school year).

These characters can either be pre-made, or new characters.

Sweetie prefers to go by the more proper name of Rachel, and your character may know this.

In Januarys app, I mention in 1887: "This same year she has a rather intense though still rather innocent flirtation with a Quidditch player." I would love to have that instance fitted onto an actual played character.

They should be male, acab and have either been on a school Quidditch team in 1887 (and thus, yearmates with January) or were already a professional quidditch player if they're a bit older. Age is flexible for the most part but definitely same age or older than January. This was pretty much an emotional affair for the pair so keep that in mind with your offerings~

Someone to teach him how to read and write. Preferably a fellow WC individual but this is pretty open. Eugene came back from the expedition with a lost leg so this person would also be helping around whenever he can.

Eugene returned from the Avalon Expedition minus a leg.

Old school friends for Dimitri. He was pretty bookish and spent a lot of time in the library. He was a Ravenclaw and attended from 1872-1879. Dimitri was a student with a lot of potential that got cut short due to his becoming of the undead. It is pretty well known among the people that knew him that he became a vampire since he is law-abiding, registered, etc.

OKAY so at the Aphrodite Soiree, Inès Valentine told Edric that his soulmate was an "exotic beauty" - only Edric doesn't really know any women that could be described like that. Because of this, he disregarded it as a sham and ran back off to @"February Lynch", not wanting to stir up any drama where he perceives there to be none.

... Except there will be, because I need some reason to stir up shit between Febric again.

So here's the plan:
Your character is an ACAB woman who could be described as "exotic" (which, in Offensive Victorian Terms, is basically a pretty non-white or noticeably non-British woman). She's unmarried, probably between the ages of 20-30, and could reasonably get along with Edric enough to thread with him more than once.
Here's some general ~ideas for how I feel this could go:
  • Your character gets into a situation where an auror presence is required, and Edric "saves" her (or at least gives the appearance of it). This either: (1) makes its way into the Daily Prophet or (2) draws the attention of the rumor mills. This amuses me because that is how Febric started and it could strike a chord.
  • They have natural chemistry and Edric can't get the thought of Inès' "prophecy" out of his mind. He begins to obsessively worried that she's the "soulmate" who's destined to tear him and Febby apart, and in doing so convinces himself that he does like her when he really doesn't.
While there isn't a solid end game in mind, I don't expect this to be anything permanent. (Key word 'expect', because one time Febric broke themselves up without Bee or I's consent. It was awful.)

This could be an existing or new character, but if it's the latter I'd rather her have some other purpose than just this plot (family adoptable, another plot on top of this one, etc.)

Flora has a toad, "Mr. Afton", who her Papa convinced was formerly a human student who was turned into a toad for failing his transfiguration exam. While he didn't mean to start anything, Flora decided to buy the toad as her Hogwarts pet with hopes that she might be able to return it to its human state one day.

In her letter to Ernest, Flora mentioned:

Quote:I've done my best to keep him sheltered, but met a strange boy who's taken an eerie interest in feeding him flies whenever I see him. I wonder how he catches them — with magic or by hand?

.... and now I really want the strange boy who always seems to have flies to feed Mr. Afton.

They would be a male student in years 1-4 who Flora does not know. He's probably WC or MC, a little bit strange or at least a little bit ~eccentric. I'd love a thread or two with them.

This is 100% inspired by the beginnings of Charity and P.T. Barnums relationship in The Greatest Showman. I have two different ways to go about it.

IN WHICH I PLAY THE GUY: I would be using Eugene Reese, there would be a bit of retconning involved. He is also illiterate which adds a bit more complication to things but he is able to read and write enough to have functional letters! He could have met this upper class girl during his brief first year as a Hufflepuff in 1880 and kept in contact. He went off on the Expedition and came back sans a leg which makes for extra angst and drama here.

IN WHICH I PLAY THE GIRL: I would be using Clarissa Cosgrove  and it would go similar to the above but in the opposite way. Could have met a working class lad while at Hogwarts. Whether he finished or not is up to you but they've been keeping in contact despite that being a very bad idea.

Either way, there is sure to be romance, angst, rep dings if they decide to run off and marry which is my ideal outcome, someone getting used to a life they are very much not used to and drama. Already played characters are a definite bonus.
