“Alright, Miss Woodcroft.” He said in response to both her words and her evidenced look – if she was wanting to play it that way, then he would certainly oblige. Looking up to the house, Coleman pulled out his wand briefly swished it over his head, uttering a spell under his breath. Within moments, his attire had straightened itself out and made itself more presentable. He put the wand back in the inside pocket of his Ministry robe and brushed himself down.
“I’m sure I will think of something,” he said with a smirk, saying not much else. Just as she opened the door, however, he spoke;
“Aspiring Ministry employee, right?”
She didn’t have a chance to respond before he was introducing himself to her family by his nickname, explaining that he was on official Ministry business on the lookout for new recruits and how Miss Woodcroft had explained her ideas for the future and had kindly invited him to have dinner as she went through some of them. He was very apologetic and said on more than one occasion that he didn’t want to put anybody out and surely hoped he wasn't intruding. He made sure it was very clear this was informal and they were more than okay to call him Charlie - it was too formal to call him by his last name and how he much preferred a friendly talk with potential recruits rather than the formalities that came with most social gatherings.
He was also more than praising toward Emmeline, sharing quick glances toward her throughout dinner with his own brand of a victorious smirk. The conversation flowed quite smoothly and after the meal, he said his goodbyes and left.
And his surname wasn't mentioned once...
