Justin Ross, now former head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, has been elected Minister of Magic, receiving just shy of twenty-three per cent of ballots cast in yesterday’s election. This publication has been informed that Mr. Ross will make a formal statement after next week’s swearing in, and it is expected that he will host a celebratory ball in the new year.

The results of this month’s election show that wizarding Britain has not yet tired of the progressive politics ushered in by the election of former Minister of Magic Balthazar Urquart. At fifteen per cent of the vote was Mr. Eugene Scamander, followed closely by Mrs. Eleanora Brownhill. The most successful conservative candidate was, unsurprisingly, Chief Warlock Mr. Herschel Dawlish, though even he trailed behind the more centrist Barnabas Skeeter—some speculate this may have been due to recent allegations of misconduct against him.
