Live Forever - The Band Perry

Eva could see a little lightness in the sky outside Fletcher's window as she laid curled up into him, half awake in what she assumed was still the early hours of the morning. Nothing unusual for her, she had always been an early riser by nature, but after last night, even she'd slept in a little. This time of year it was usually still dark when she rose for the day. Truthfully though, last night's events had lent themselves to a deep, restful sleep, leaving her feeling ready for the day.

Unfortunately it didn't seem like Fletch was any kind of ready to be awake, so she untangled herself from his arms, gave him a soft kiss and slid out of bed. She found her drawers discarded on the floor and tugged them on, but hadn't any idea where her chemise had landed. That likely wouldn't be warm enough anyway, so she tiptoed out to the living room and found Fletcher's shirt in the middle of their forgotten picnic. Surveying the scene brought a soft, smitten smile to her lips.  Finding her wand and the ribbon from her hair she used both to pull her hair from her eyes, piled loosely at the top of her head. As she buttoned up his shirt, she inhaled his cologne and proceeded to pad around the room quietly, picking up.

She then took everything into the kitchen and set it all aside for a moment. Wandering back into the living room, she pulled her wand out of her hair and with a quick flick, magicked the rest of the clean up and rekindled the fire. Now to make breakfast.

Though her last foray into the kitchen to prepare a meal for Fletch had gone horribly awry, breakfast was the one thing she could cook well. Eggs were a staple while traveling and she'd learned to prep them pretty easily. Humming to herself, she looked through the cabinets and found eggs easily enough, some bacon in the ice box, bless Mrs. Sweeney for using it in something last night, and bread for toast. Oh Merlin she hoped he had coffee somewhere.

Bingo!

She almost jumped for joy, except her whole body was pleasantly sore, when she found it in a canister and set the kettle to boil. Humming to herself she swayed around the kitchen starting their breakfast.

Fletcher had groaned just a bit when Eavan had untangled herself from him and me him softly to slip from his bed. He'd been groggy enough not to really realize what was happening though and had managed to curl up all over again to doze back off. It was his day off, after all, and he rarely got up earlier than necessary on such days. He took his time on days like that and didn't fully get going rally until around afternoon tea. But that was okay. He was a bachelor for the most part after all so it wasn't as if it really hurt anyone.

But something was different about that morning and his groggy, deep sleep induced mind didn't seem yo really be wrapping his mind around what was different. At least, not until he started to smell bacon cooking and the beginning smell of fresh coffee being brewed. He'd have to have lost sense of smell to not realize such a thing and soon found himself lifting his head up from his pillow. Propped on his elbows, he glanced around while rubbing at his eyes. The realization of what was going on fully dawned on him then as he took note of the discarded dress on his floor. She had stayed with him all night, he knew that much, but she hadn't just left when she'd women up.

He grinned at that thought though knew he shouldn't have been surprised. Pushing himself from the bed, he pulled on a pair of sleep pants from his wardrobe before meandering out of his bedroom. He took note of the fact that she'd cleaned up the mess of the living before heading into the kitchen.

The sight he was greeted with was one he was sure he'd never get used to but would always enjoy. His little red headed beauty in one of his shirts working on breakfast was something he never knew he'd needed in his life but he was sure he always would now. Quietly, he came up behind her and gave her rear a little pat before slipping a hand around her waist and kissed her neck just below her ear lobe. "I could definitely get used to this," he said with a slight chuckle.

Eva had been so wrapped up in cooking, she almost hadn't heard Fletcher come in. A grin threatened to split her cheeks, accompanied by a little blush and she couldn't help the little squeak of surprise when he swatted her bum. Merlin she really could get used to this.

Biting her lip to prevent the grin from spreading even further, she chuckled when he said exactly what she'd been thinking. Of course feeling his hands on her waist and his breath at her ear didn't help either. "I thought you might be hungry after last night, but I didn't mean to wake you." Truthfully she had been enjoying the quiet of the early morning afterglow, but this was just as nice. There was something incredibly alluring about how comfortable this was, how naturally it seemed to come to them.

"But since you're up, how do you like your eggs? These I promise I can actually cook." She nudged him with her shoulder, leaning back to give his cheek a quick peck. "Water's probably ready for coffee too." She mused, hearing the kettle about to whistle.

Fletcher chuckled at her comment. He definitely was hungry. They hadn't had much chance to eat the delicacies Mrs. Sweeney had prepared for them but they had gotten side tracked. It had all been worth it. And if he was going to wake up to her in his shirt in the kitchen each time, he'd be arranging for it to happen more often until it became a permanent thing.

"Famished," he said with a grin as he nipped at her ear before she could nudge him with her shoulder and then kiss him on the cheek. He was loathe to let her go but did so that the bacon didn't end up burned and coffee sounded almost as good as carrying her back to bed did.

"Well you've got one up on me there then," he said as he stepped away to add the coffee to the kettle, "I can never manage to flip them without breaking the yolk so I always end up with scramble. But I do love a good over medium." Just enough of a runny yolk to make everything stick together on some toast but not so much that he'd have to spend forever mopping it up.

Grinning like an idiot, Eva kept humming along to herself as Fletch moved to take care of the coffee, turning the bacon as she watched it sizzle carefully. She had to pay attention when she cooked, or it would turn out like last time! Fortunately, though she pouted just a little when he moved away, that was one less distraction. "Coming right up," Eva would eat them just about any way, can but enjoyed the ooze of a good over easy any day. Then she could take care of the toast with her wand and that would be that.

"Plates? I need one to put this on," This serving of bacon was just about done and could use a little rest while she did the second before the eggs. "How did you sleep?" Judging by how out of it he'd been when she got up, she wanted to guess well, but she wasn't sure. She'd slept like a rock, which was odd for the first night in a new place and the first time with somebody in bed beside her in that way, but she was certainly not complaining.

Fletcher did notice the slight pout she had on her lips as he moved away, bringing a chuckle from him again. It was interesting to him to have such an affect on a person but he liked it. Milling about in the kitchen with another body was just as interesting but he found it to be rather comforting. It was strange to think of such though, as he'd lived alone for quite some time now. But it was something he'd get used to and he was sure he'd enjoy.

After seeing to the coffee in the kettle of water, her turned toward the cupboard that housed a handful of plates and pulled them out and brought them over to where Eavan was and set them on the counter next to her. He then leaned against said counter to watch her, smiling all the while. "Best I've slept in ages," he answered honestly. He couldn't remember the last time he'd slept like that, probably when he'd first gotten back from the expedition but that had been due to the way time had passed so strangely while they were there.

"And you?" he asked as he reached out to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, his finger lingering briefly against her cheek before bringing it back to rest on the counter.

Swaying to the tune she was humming to herself, Eva listened to him with a smile, and moved to put the bacon on the plate as he set it down. "Never better." She assured him as she nipped playfully at his fingers. Eva then laid the next few pieces of bacon into the pan with a satisfying sizzle.

"Do you want to take care of the toast?" She asked as she cocked her head to the side and batted her eyelashes at him. She really could get used to this. It was startlingly easy to fall into sync with him. Perhaps married life wouldn't be so bad if they made sure to make time for these kinds of mornings.

Grinning and chuckling at Eavan's response, Fletcher felt himself falling even more in love with her. If that was even possible. He was beyond head over heels with her and was quite enjoying what he hoped would become a daily morning ritual in time. He just found himself hoping that it could happen sooner rather than later.

"I think I can manage that," he said with a grin before pushing away from the counter and giving her rear a bit of a squeeze. He just couldn't help himself, that much was obvious. As he started to work on it, he glanced over his shoulder to her. "Any other plans for the day?" he asked.

The unexpected squeeze had her laughing out loud as she tried to scoot away without breaking the eggs she now had in the pan. Eva kicked one foot out toward him gently in retaliation as he moved to do the toast, but missed completely. Shaking her head at the pair of them, she realized this was crazy, but somehow worked. He was so damn good at this and she felt like such a novice, but hopefully she'd catch up. Eva wasn't sure she'd ever be quite as much of a romantic as he was, but she would try.

Sliding her eggs onto another plate, she gave his another moment to firm up before setting them aside too. She wiped her hands on a nearby towel before turning around and sidling up to him, pressing her body against his and her lips to his shoulder as she settled her hands teasingly on his hips. "Well," She elongated it as if she were thinking. "I don't have any pressing matters to attend to at work, so I could owl Amelia and ask her to take care of it today..." Mrs. Sweeney was going to kill her. Then again, Mrs. Sweeney didn't need to know she didn't got to work today either. The house keeper would have to know she didn't come home last night though. Oh was she going to be in for an earful when she did go home. Merlin she hoped Mrs. Sweeney didn't say anything offhand when her father was around... No, no reason to let that ruin her fun, not today.

"What about you, do you have to work today?" Eva hadn't even bothered to consider it, but supposed he did work different hours from her most of the time.

Chuckling as he paid attention to the toast, Fletcher couldn't avoid the grin on his features as she sidled up to him. He quite liked that, he was sure. Feeling her pressed against him and even her lips against his shoulder had a whole different allure to it. It wasn't something he'd ever really experienced. Before Eavan, any nights spent with a woman were typically not spent in his own home and he never woke up to them. No, this was far more enjoyable than anything he'd ever been involved in before.

Set to buttering the toast, he shook his head in response to her question. "No work today," he answered easily as he finished up the toast then turned to face her, his own hands falling to her waist and pulling her close to him. He leaned down and kissed her softly then, a sweet and chaste kiss even if he was already longing for so much more.

"I thought maybe I could show you one of the cottages," he said after he had pulled back from the kiss, his own blue eyes falling to meet hers, "But a day spent solely in bed wouldn't be a bad idea either." He smirked then, knowing it was a bit brazen to suggest such a thing but he really couldn't help himself. He was smitten, plain and simple.

Humming pleasantly as he turned and kissed her, Eva trailed her fingers up over his arms and shoulders to loop her arms around his neck. Sighing as he leaned back and suggested options for their day together, Eva felt both elicite a little catch of her breath, but for wildly different reasons.

Going to look at a cottage was a big step and she rather thought she could only handle one at a time. She would though, if he really wanted to. But, "Considering I've only got slippers and no cloak and I don't feel like explaining to my father where I've been, maybe we should stay in." Eva cast a sly little look up at him, biting her lip to suppress the smile. Looking at a future home would be a little easier after she'd talked to her father. She wanted to and probably sooner rather than later, but staying in today was far too tempting.

"Breakfast first," She pushed up to her tiptoes to plant a lingering kiss on his lips before backing up to get her food.

Fletcher hadn't really been thinking it through when he'd asked her about looking at a cottage. Or rather, hadn't been thinking about her state of dress. It obviously hadn't been a part of the plan, after all, and she likely didn't have the proper things to wear. It made sense though and he absolutely had no issues with just staying in. Truthfully, it was the preference in that moment. Especially after that lingering kiss.

"Breakfast in bed?" he said, smirking as he followed her to get his own plate, "I don't exactly have a kitchen table." Or they could make use of the pillows in the living room again. Either way suited him just fine. "I promise to eat my food first this time, too," he added, as if that would help her to make the decision.

Eva turned back briefly to collect her toast, intentionally brushing up against him in the process, before moving to pour the coffee. "I could get behind breakfast in bed," She mused aloud with a little grin. They were really going to have to get married soon if they could fall into step this easily. Plus this really was a nice way to spend a day off.

"Oh I have to owl Amelia." She paused to look over her shoulder at him. It was still early, but the earlier the better in this case. There wasn't anything crazy going on in the aviary anymore, just basic feeding and opening it to the public, she and Amelia had done it plenty of times together since her friend had started working at the zoo.

It would be just a quick note, then they could move on with their lazy day in. "Then I'm all yours. While she was not one to be any kind of idle during the day, her hospital stay had nearly driven her insane, this was entirely different. It would be a nice little peek into what their married life might look like and she'd be lying if she said she wasn't curious. Plus they never got to spend a whole day in one another's company, uninterrupted and with no expectations; she was sincerely looking forward to it.

Fletcher's grin widened as she reached for her toast and brushed against him in the process. If his own hands hadn't been full, he'd have surely reached out and grabbed her to him. At the rate they were going, he may have to consider getting a special license just so they could be married as quickly as possible. After just one night and now one day spent solely with her, he was going to have a hard time without her there. Clearly it would be far more boring without her in his home.

He nodded when she mentioned owling Amelia though. Nodding toward the living room he said, "Gilly should be on her perch in there." The large barn owl was a pretty basic and easy owl to get along with. While large, she was definitely sturdy and had been with him for quite some time.

He stepped toward Eavan then, still grinning like a fool, and kissed her softly on the cheek. "I'll be waiting," he said with a wink before sauntering off into his bedroom with his own plate of breakfast and black coffee.

Chuckling, after hearing his owl was in the other room, Eva sauntered off, one last look over her shoulder at him, assuming she'd find what she needed for a quick note as well. She found Gilly readily, the beautiful barn owl snoozing on a perch. Eva had always had a soft spot for owls too, such beautiful creatures. It was a miracle she didn't have an fair few herself.

With a piece of bacon in hand, Eva found some parchment and a quill on the neat little desk in the living room. Quickly scrawling out a little white lie to her friend with a request and a couple reminders, Eva then approached Gilly gently, running her fingers slowly down the owl's wing to wake her. She was quite cooperative, allowing Eva to snuggle her briefly and tie the mail on before Eva let her out the window to deliver it. That settled, she collected her breakfast and coffee and headed back toward the bedroom, heart rate skittering up just a little as she entered.

"All set, barring any emergencies, I'm all yours, all day." She passed him a sly grin and a little chuckle as she climbed back into bed and under the covers beside him carefully. "So, what do you usually do on your days off?" Eva said before cutting into her eggs and dipping her toast into the yolk; she hadn't realized just how hungry she was herself!

It wasn't until Fletcher had gotten situated in his bed, pillows propped up against the headboard to give them plenty of comfort while they ate, that he realized just how hungry he was. He really should have ate more the previous night but his thoughts had been far too distracted to even think of such things. The memory of that evening flickered through his mind and brought quite the smile to his features just as Eavan came back into his room.

"I definitely like the sound of that," he said after he'd finished a bite of the the egg he'd sandwiched between his two pieces of toast. He waited yo eat much more, choosing to sip on his coffee as she settled in the bed next to him.

"Well, I definitely take my time getting up and going usually," he answered honestly, knowing very well he likely wouldn't have gotten out of bed yet let alone breakfast if she hasn't started making bacon, "And then it just kind of depends. Some days I still end up working but just do so from home. Others I take Tink off to a park and just relax." He finished off with a slight shrug as he took another bite of his makeshift breakfast sandwich, leaving just under half of it left. "But today I'm all yours as well," he added, "Anything in particular you'd like to do?"
