Student Staff Selection '88

Prefect Season is my FAVOURITE TIME OF YEAR, and as such I hope everyone applies who is remotely qualified applies!

ABOUT STUDENT STAFF

Hogwarts' student staff serve as role models for their fellow students. Additionally, they reinforce/penalize good and bad behaviour by issuing and taking away house points. In addition to prestige, prefects receive half of their tuition and heads all of their tuition in exchange for their efforts. They also get to use the prefects’ toilets because that is clearly a selling point.

Faculty recommendations will be handled privately, NOT via the prefect apps.

ACTIVITY LOG:

Someone with a terrible personality won’t get cleared just because they’ve been more active, but activity is still a factor for us! You should only link threads from the 1887-1888 school year. Scored OOC only.

To apply, make sure your character meets the demographic in question (IE sixth year Ravenclaw female should be a female student in Ravenclaw house who will be in sixth year in September) and has at least 10 posts on their account. Charaters approved on or after May 15th only need five posts on their account—so you’re welcome to make a character to fit the bill ;) You must post the form below as a reply to this thread from the account in question.

Because of the move, we also require that all characters have an active, un-ported thread at the time of applying. Please include it in the "active thread" field :)

All listed years are incoming—if your character just finished their fifth year, they can apply for sixth year posts. All positions for upper-year prefects will be retconned to your character having held the spot since their fifth year, and in applying, you consent to this.

Why Should You Be Prefect:

Despite any of my shortcomings, I should be considered for prefect because I care. Hufflepuffs are touted for their unprejudiced ways — a trait that I've worked hard to prove I possess (1, 2) despite the stereotypes associated with my name. I make the best effort to get to know younger students, while also encouraging those I love to be their best. I also show... persistence? I participate in class and seek further help when I need it. I diligently complete homework assignments, and even participate in tournaments!

Why Should You Be Prefect:

Through my time as a prefect, I’ve proven to be impartial in my judgments—I won’t balk at taking away points, even from my own house. I am friendly to those in other houses, and a dedicated student. Unlike some candidates, I’m not a purist or a prat.

I have been actively involved in the school* since my first year, and can think of now better way to round out my Hogwarts career. I have been involved in clubs for both History and Potions. I also once saved a boy from drowning, so that's probably a mark in my favour.

I've also signed up to participate in the expedition to discover the source of the fog.

Why Should You Be Prefect:

The role of Head Boy was meant for me, as I am a born leader, something I have demonstrated by my experience as Slytherin Quidditch Captain and as Prefect. I keep up with my duties, and am unafraid to dock points if the situation requires or to exercise my authority. Nevertheless, I am loyal to my friends, and am capable of getting along with people outside of my House or even beyond my social class.

That said, I am always keen to foster Slytherin unity and to support younger students. One could even call me an aspirational figure for my peers, as not only do I participate in my classes, I also lead the way in achievement, and am sure I would continue to inspire everyone unsurpassably as Head Boy.
