Tristan Michaud vs. Alfred Clearwater -
Barnabas Skeeter - January 31, 2019
February 2nd, 1889 — Location
He'd been free of the she-beast for a month exactly, today. Barnabas had rather mixed feelings about it all - mostly bitterness and hatred, but also a bit of... loneliness? Now that he was on his own again, he found that having a townhome to himself and his corgi left the evenings rather dull. Not that he missed the chaos of the Connolly home. It was a transition space. It wasn't like he could go out in society right now anyway. Annulment or no, he was still the laughing stock and no woman would take him seriously just now.
Luckily, the dueling tournament was today. He'd been rather busy with prep work and rosters - and now moderating. Barnabas reviewed the
rules with the two men (neither looked very promising, if he said so himself) and declared,
"Mr. Michaud, you may begin the first round."

Tristan had decided to participate in the dueling tournament more as a thing to do than anything else. Plus, it was fun. After observing the niceties, Tristan started them off with a stinging hex.

Alfie had heard about the recent scandal - frankly who hadn't?! - and he blushed as he tried not to glance in their arbiter's direction. It was almost enough to throw him off his game but Alfie had been in enough duels now to know when focus was essential. He cast a shield automatically.

The stinging hex attempt resulted in a small fizzle at the end of Mr. Michaud's wand, which left the shield Mr. Clearwater had performed rather unnecessary.
"Alright," He said judgmentally,
"The first point goes to Mr. Clearwater, who will take the offensive on the next round."
Tristan = 1, Alfred = 3

Offering his opponent a small apologetic smile Alfie cast immobulus and turly hoped the other boy wouldn’t hurt himself if he fell. After all, he had entered the clinic rather than competitive section for the very reason that he didn’t particularly want to hurt somebody!

Tristan smiled back at his opponent as he waited for Mister Clearwater to perform the spell he would need to go against. Once the new round started, he went with the disarming spell as his defense.

This time, at least, they were getting somewhere. The defensive spell was cast just a moment too slow, which left Mr. Michaud effectively immobilized.
"The point is awarded - again - to Mr. Clearwater, who will move on in the tournament." Barnabas turned and huffed off stage as the rest of the staff were left to deal with Mr. Michaud's predicament.
