Ace Lukeson vs. Jack Humphrey-Mavis - Morwenna Skeeter - January 30, 2019

2nd February, 1889 — Howler Stadium

Lord, was every paid she oversaw going to be younger than the last? These two didn't look old enough to be out of school and she was quietly thankful that their participation in the clinic match meant she was unlikely to have to peel either of them off the floor. She went over the rules in clipped, schoolmarm style and bid Mr Lukeson to begin.

RE: Ace Lukeson vs. Jack Humphrey-Mavis - Ace Lukeson - January 30, 2019

Ace was sure that he recognized Mr. Humphrey-Mavis from school. Was he a year ahead of him or behind? Likely not a Ravenclaw, or Ace would likely know him well enough to know the other wizard's school year. It was quite a relief really, not getting paired with someone who was five years or older than him. It would possibly be like placing a first year against a seventh year. And Ace was sure that Hogwarts didn't do that. But this wasn't Hogwarts either. Bowing as was expected, he took the brief time to decide on what to do. Electing on the Tail-growing hex, he was sure the audience would get a laugh out of it if it worked.

Jack decided simple was best and cast a simple Protego spell.

It was a close run thing between the two lads but the blonde boy's shield was just strong enough to stop the red-head's attempts before it could do any damage. "First round to Mr Humphrey-Mavis," she proclaimed, abjectly refusing to call him by his title. The boy seemed nice enough but it was the principle of the thing. "And he may begin the second."

Jack was pleased to have won the first round. He decided to see if he couldn't amuse both himself and the crowd by going with an antler jinx. The spell had always amused him and he wasn't really here to be serious. He just wanted a bit of fun.

Hearing the incantation from his opponent, his eyes went wide as he cast a shielding charm for himself. "I don't know about you, but I find antlers to be far worse than a tail." He called out cause of course there must be commentary at some point.

Morwenna did not appreciate the commentary. It was a perfectly competent shield but she was reminded of why men under the age of thirty were appalling. "That's quite enough Mr Lukeson. You take the round but I would ask you to begin the tie-break with a little more decorum."

Well... he certainly thought that he was amusing. Deciding that a trip jinx was a good way to end it, he did hope that the audience was completely amused.

RE: Ace Lukeson vs. Jack Humphrey-Mavis - Jack Humphrey-Mavis - February 6, 2019

Jack didn't know what was up with the other guy but he wasn't too fussed about it. It wasn't like he had been about to repeat spells that his opponent had done so he didn't really know what the point of Lukesons words had been. "[i]Expelliarmus,"[i] he incanted as his turn within the round came up.

Thank heavens for small mercies - it was finally done with. Mr Lukeson's efforts were valiant and Morwenna thought his form was probably better overall but Mr Humphrey-Mavis was just too quick for him and his wand flew through the air.

"Congratulations Mr Humphrey-Mavis, you advance to the next round. Better luck next time Mr Lukeson."
