Tis The Season - Juniper Lyness - December 14, 2018

December 14, 1888 - Lyness Hogsmeade Estate
This time of the year was always so nice. Far more shiny things all around. An excuse to wear more of her silver and prettier dresses. Not that any of her dresses were not pretty. All of her dresses were fabulous, she would settle for nothing less. But the only time more perfect than this time of the year was her birthday. And the birthdays of her children and husband, and papa. Not her sisters though. Those were horrible days.

Now was also the time that she got even more gifts than normal. More pampering by her family. It was what she liked. And now was time to spend with her older daughter. The one she could actually understand. "Emily, my shiny darling, how has your day been?" She asked as she watched her tea being stirred with sugar before she took a sip of it.

Emily didn't want to sit and have a chat with her mother. She would rather be spending time playing, or taking things that didn't belong to her, but soon would be hers. Even terrorizing the other children sounded much funner than sitting still for any amount of time.

"Boring." the child said sadly. She didn't have many friends, and those whom she was friends with probably weren't really friends, their parents were just afraid of her mother. There really hadn't been any nice jewelry laying around for her to take and hide in her room, even if said things didn't stay very long.

How disappointing. Juniper felt that she was an utter delight to be around. No matter what was actually happening. With a sad huff, she moved on. She took another sip of her tea as she thought of how to respond to her daughter's statement. At least her child was not looking for shiny things to steal at the moment. She remembered the idea that she had stated to her husband regarding the subject. Something that she was still considering. Sending the girl away to learn before Hogwarts, no matter how much it broke her heart to think of such a thing. But the family was looked down on enough as it was without Emily being arrested for theft to make matters worse. "What a shame." She stated simply.

Emily was  sad about the boring day, too. Though she didn't know her mother was probably talking about something else entirely. Though she didn't like her siblings, they were the only other children that probably wouldn't judge her. Mister Leo Lupin didn't count. He was - probably - just as bad as her at making friends.

"Mama, do you think we could go play outside?" Nevermind that her siblings probably wouldn't play, and her mama probably wouldn't want to play in the snow either. She sighed. It was lonely being her.

Play outside? Well, it was far nicer to wander the grounds when it was next to the forest. At Juniper's favorite estate. Here people judged her, and her precious children. "Well, what would you want to do outside?" It wasn't as if there were any trees besides the forbidden forest. And vampires did not seem like the type that Juniper would willingly be around. The very thought of meeting a centaur sent a shiver down her spine.

Emily shrugged. "Play in the snow." she suggested hopefully. She could make snowballs and throw them at people. Or make a snowman. Or destroy someone else's snowman. Either of the options seemed fantastic to her.

Snow. Snow could be pretty. The icicles, the flakes as they drifted down. But coming back inside would leave one soaked and cold. "Well, perhaps. What would you be doing in the snow?" She personally preferred her warm tea.

Emily honestly couldn't tell her Mama what she planned on doing. Terrorizing other kids would probably not please her. It would please Emily, but not her mother. She made sure she looked innocent.  "Build a snowman."

RE: Tis The Season - Juniper Lyness - January 7, 2019

"Well... alright. But if either of us get too cold, we will go inside. Alright?" It was fair, in her opinion. She wouldn't want her beloved child getting sick.

RE: Tis The Season - Emily Lyness - January 8, 2019

Emily gave her mother a broad smile, scrambling from her seat. She ran around to where her mother was sitting and grabbed her hand, trying to pull her outside.

Being tugged to her feet, she stood still as she playfully shook her head. "Oh my shiny darling. We must get changed first before going into the cold. If we go as we are, we would both be too cold to stay out for any length of time." That, and she didn't want this nice dress to get all wet from melted snow.

RE: Tis The Season - Emily Lyness - January 8, 2019

Emily frowned at her mother's logic. They could stay out as long as they wanted in what they were wearing! But, she listened to her mother and didn't run outside. "What clothes?" she tilted her head, unsure what would keep them warmer than what they already had on.

At least Emily could see sense in her logic. "The nanny will help you find proper clothing." She said simply. Meanwhile, she needed her lady's maid to help her with her own change of wardrobe.
