2018 Reading Lists - Odira Keene - January 28, 2018

We're Reading... 2018

Members are invited to keep track of their own reading list for the year using whatever format they like—maybe they feel like including a small shot of the cover, a review, their preferred wine pairing? Maybe they only list what they finish, or they want to list everything they’ve got on tap too! Whichever route you choose, we’re excited to see which books you’ve lost yourself in Smile

We ask only two things:
  • Spoilers in spoiler tags, please!
  • Don’t break the page or the code >.>

RE: 2018 Reading Lists - Sisse Thompsett - February 26, 2018

Finished:

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas, third book in the Court of Thorns and Roses series - entertaining, series ties together fairy tales from a variety of places and develops an excellent fantasy world.

Book of the People by Geraldine Brookes - was alright, interesting look into the past.

Fate of the Tearling by Erika Johansen, final book of the Queen of the Tearling trilogy - I wasn't able to put it down, like the first two books in the series, excellent conclusion.

The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult - an excellent read, humorous tone, great story, clever layout, fantastic read.

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab - Charming Summer Challenge

Terrier by Tamora Pierce - Charming Summer Challenge

The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert - Charming Summer Challenge

The Diviners by Libba Bray - Charming Summer Challenge

Beauty by Robin McKinely - I really enjoyed rereading this, although I do see why she rewrote it for Rose Daughter, nonetheless I am still a sucker for retellings of Beauty and the Beast and this was quite enjoyable.

Torn by Rowenna Miller

Isabella: The Warrior Queen by Kirstin Downey

Next:

War Storm by Victoria Aveyard
The Winter Palace by Eva Stachniak
In the Woods by Tana French

RE: 2018 Reading Lists - Seneca Lestrange - February 26, 2018

Ooo how fun. Like Lynn, I also have a goodreads account but I can’t seem to find the link to it on muni phone so you’ll have to wait until I’m back on my laptop tomorrow. EDIT: here's my Goodreads account

What I’ve read in 2018:
1. This Greek novel called... A Journey With Venus? The star name of Venus. Yeah idk how to translate it and Goodreads has no English editions. The author is Angelos Terzakis.
2. Franny & Zooey by J. D. Salinger
3. The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo
4. Sleeping Murder (Miss Marple #13) by Agatha Christie
5. This short story by A. Pushkin called The Queen Of Spades
6. The Bloody Chamber and other stories by Angela Carter
7. Six Tales From The Jazz Age and other stories by F. Scott Fitzgerald
8. The Edible Woman by Margaret Atwood
9. Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
10. The Catcher In The Rye by Salinger again
11. Mother Night by Kurt Vonnegut
12. Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut

RE: 2018 Reading Lists - Elias Grimstone - March 12, 2018

A number of disclaimers:
— My goodreads account is very out-of-date and I'm too lazy to sort it out right now. >.>
— I don't actually read much for fun anymore except in the summers because 90% of my degree has been reading JSTOR articles or whatever. Also I've been in such a ~non-fiction phase for so long now that I'm properly in a fiction slump and find it really hard to engage with new stuff? Hoping to turn that around later in the year!
