Seeking: Employer - Flora Mulciber - September 10, 2024
Hello!!
I am very interested in bringing Grace Greengrass back, but I want to establish what she's doing and who she's involved with before I take the plunge! Her brother recently pressured her into taking a job since she was floundering on the marriage mart.
I'm specifically looking for one of the following:
- A played or NPC UC female character aged 50+ who would reasonably hire a lady's companion. Either way, I'd prefer they had active family members or close friends who she might regularly interact with!
- A family unit with an ongoing plot who could handwave a mother or grandmother to be around so it could somehow involve Grace.
Alternatively:
- She could have been originally hired as a paid companion and then be recommended/peer pressured into being a governess for her original employer's adult children who have kids of their own. Grace is not known for her backbone.
I am also looking for:
- General MC/WC working people Grace could have met on the move/running errands that her employer would trust her with. People who are outside the debutante/society scene who she might have recently befriended!

I don't have any good employment options, but I do have Lorelei Owens who worked at the apothecary in Hogsmeade until last month and currently specializes mostly in household/keeping potions. I also have Protego Lochrin who owns a high street shop and is at least affable. XD

I have woefully little here but shop peeps, Quin, Daffy, Greer Owens (seamstress @ Gladrags) Tobias Ollivander (wands, obvi, strange skillset lol) Kenna Buchanan at the 3BS.
Not exactly something you mentioned but for giggles Cordelia Emsworth could use a research assistant? That's a fun mess.

^ Lorelei and Greer also lived in the same house as Grace lmao, y'all don't need to meet around town.
Ife Gbadamosi is played UC 50+ female but she would probably destroy Grace.
Ezra Applegate (& Hanna & Byron) are a family with a plot and an unplayed mother, it could probably work if you're interested! They're MC but upper end and her entire family is crazy so. She might want some sane company.
I fully support Grace being a research assistant to a messy family though ftr that's what I'd pick in your shoes xD

I'm super curious about Cordelia's situation!! Would she have an official position in the house as her/a family member's companion and be like her unofficial research assistant? Grace wasn't known for her academic prowess but it would be fun to see her in that situation!
Also 100% down to thread with your other characters in the future. I miss Bee threads <3

The tldr of Delia's situation is she and ex husband Hadrian Nott used to travel the world together adventuring (her for botany, him for funsies) until he accidentally caused her sister Cynthia Emsworth to get cursed into a beetle. Delia is desperately trying to fix that by researching and getting funding to try and turn Cindy human again.
I think the position would look like part-time keeping track of Delia and Cindy, keeping things organized, maybe actual research, but more on the herding cats side of things xD

I def support the research assistant gig >D Alternatively if you would like to be involved with that drama more on the lady's companion side, Hadrian's mother Aurelia (in Nott family ads) is 100% the sort of person who would hire a companion. She's needy and annoying and would want her companion to, like, read WW aloud to her and scribe letters and gossip about people, that kind of thing, so lots of scope for ~Weird Errands. Titus Nott is also played, and the Notts are related to the Harts and the Lovegoods in other played UC connections!
Hadrian also keeps a flying tiger in the house. Did I also mention he's into taxidermy?
And Mummy!Nott probably also sends Cordelia hatemail, so you could be either on the writing/receiving end of that, depending on where you put Grace. xD

No need to explain how wild the Dempsey clan is but Lowri has a granddaughter she doesn’t know exists so the fallout from that will be one for the ages lmao
