Student Staff Selection '94
ABOUT STUDENT STAFF
Hogwarts' student staff serve as role models for their fellow students. Additionally, they reinforce/penalize good and bad behaviour by issuing and taking away house points. In addition to prestige, prefects receive half of their tuition and heads all of their tuition in exchange for their efforts. They also get to use the prefects’ toilets because that is clearly a selling point.
Faculty recommendations will be handled privately, NOT via the prefect apps.
To apply, make sure your character
meets the demographic in question (IE sixth year Ravenclaw female should be a female student in Ravenclaw house who will be in sixth year in September) and has
at least 10 posts on their account. Head students do
not need to have been prefects first, but it will help their case if they were.
Characters approved
on or after June 1st only need
five posts on their account—so you’re welcome to
make a character to fit the bill ;) You must post the form below as a reply to this thread
from the account in question.

Why Should You Be Prefect:I may not be the headmaster's son, but I am the son's BFF a strong candidate, in my own humble opinion. I have already demonstrated reliability and dedication through my post on the quidditch team and my standing of Prefect, and believe I am a role model in two key areas.
Socially, I consider myself to be well-liked. While this alone does not qualify one for such a position, it should be noted that I have cultivated friendships both within my house and in others, and I do not restrict my friendships to those of a certain social class, having held a position on my house's quidditch team since my first year. I have been particularly loyal to my closest friends for much of my life.
Academically, I have sought high achievement since the beginning of my time at Hogwarts. I am a hardworking student who has had a love of understanding the world around me since I was a boy. I performed very well on my O.W.L. examinations ("other" section) and have enrolled in seven courses for further study. Though a loss in my family in September did impact my performance for a time, I have remained respectful and engaged in my classes (1, 2) this year. I also do not keep my brain to myself, helping other students with their academics when needed.
I thank you very much for your consideration.

Why Should You Be Prefect:
To our faculty,
Nobody embodies what it means to love a school more than the girl who in her first year, wished to be somewhere else. Those feelings are long gone and this wonderful place is my home.
I would dearly like to be considered to be a prefect. I am punctual, polite and have a disciplinary record that is without blemishes. My etiquette is très magnifique which will help me in my endeavours to help other students shine and assist in group situations or assingments.
My English was poor when I first started Hogwarts, but I have persevered, as I do in class, including in subjects that I find Less enjoyable or more difficult. This is an important characteristic of a student that hopes to set an example.
I feel that I have the grace, poise and elegance that will allow me to set a good example for my peers and be a shining ambassador for our school. I have made friends in school, supporting our quidditch team with a passion befitting a prefect, whilst remaining a feminine distance from the actual practice.
Please consider my application with the merit that I hope you feel it deserves. I promise that you shall not be disappointed with my performance.
Yours sincerely,
Mademoiselle Violetta Elise Decroix

Why Should You Be Prefect:
Thread log
I wasn’t born into privilege or surrounded by love and support like some of my peers. My early life was filled with hardships but each of these experiences has taught me resilience, empathy, and a profound understanding of what it means to struggle and persevere.
At Hogwarts, I’ve found a place where I belong, a community that has accepted me. I've worked hard and my rougher edges have been smoothed through hard work and genuine enjoyment of school. While I might not do so very well during etiquette classes, I've worked at them, and mister Mondragon has provided me with the opportunity to better myself, but I think I'm approachable, and I want to help others in my house succeed or at least to be a credit to the house. I put my house before all else, such as when Calla Potts was injured and I was put on the team in her place, but when she recovered I gladly gave up the spot because it was best for the house.
Mister Mondragon’s support has been a turning point in my life. His belief in me when no one else did has inspired me to pay it forward. I want to be that source of encouragement and guidance for others. Being a prefect would give me the platform to do so, to continue to mentor younger students as I've already one, to mediate conflicts, and to help maintain the welcoming and inclusive environment that makes Hogwarts special.
Lastly, my time as a statue might seem like an odd thing to mention - but it does rather make me the oldest boy in the school! Which I take rather seriously.

Why Should You Be Prefect:I am writing to express my interest in the position of prefect. I have always seen the role as one to look up to, and indeed I have regarded prefects as role models and leaders in our school. Over the past few years, I have come to understand more about myself and have practiced skills that I believe would make me a good candidate for prefect.
Doing the right thing is important to me, that is a standard that I try to live up to and lift others up to as well. Sometimes, doing the right thing means standing up to someone that makes me uncomfortable, but I feel it is important to act regardless. Practicing these qualities has taught me the importance of challenging situations head-on, in addition to the value of accountability and fairness, qualities that I believe are essential for a prefect.
When I make mistakes, I do my best to correct them. While I may still be learning, I have been through situations that taught me the importance of careful communication and to consider the impact of my words. I learn quickly when given the opportunity, and I believe these lessons have made me more a conscientious person.
Having spent parts of my summer working at my cousin's flower shop, I have found a place to practice diligence and responsibility, qualities that I sometimes struggle with. When others depend on me, it is up to me to meet their expectations, which is something I have strived to do for my papa, my cousins, my friends, and more recently, myself.
I believe these values and experience may be useful for a prefect at Hogwarts, someone who can be both a role model and a leader for her fellow students. I would be grateful to Hogwarts for giving me such an opportunity, and I humbly submit this letter for your consideration.

Why Should You Be Prefect:
NB - this was written and submitted by one of Ben's dorm mates without his consent
To the Professors,
I think that I would make an excellent prefect, I am smart, handsome and have the best hair in Gryffindor even if it sometimes has the scent of Dad's pet shop when I come back from school breaks.
When I am not demonstrating my skills in gallantry to the girls of Various years you will find me up to my throwing myself in to whatever wonderful creature you might find around the castle grounds. You only have to ask Professor Brierley what a hard working student that I am, unless of course she still thinks I poisoned the faculty, in which case maybe not.
I have worked hard at being the president of the book club, of course, encouraging cross club discussions of various written gems and even managing to get an eminent writer to grace hogsmeade weekend with his presence for both book clubs to enjoy.
In summary, I am fun, friendly, confident and a perfect gentleman. I would make everyone proud and am more than willing to do all the extra homework it might entail.
Yours sincerely,
Mr. Benedict Hunter Esq.

Why Should You Be Prefect:I am writing to express my interest in becoming the 5th Year Male Prefect for Ravenclaw. Over the last few years I feel I developed a sense of responsibility and dedication to my house, doing my best to earn points rather than lose them, which I believe makes me a great candidate for the role. I am used to hard work and do not mind the extra responsibilities that will come with the role.
I try to make academics my priority, as I have a career in mind upon graduation that requires NEWTs. I try to take on informal mentoring roles within Ravenclaw as I have tried to assist younger students with their studies and help them adjust to life at Hogwarts now that they are away from their families; it was an adjustment for me, so I understand how it feels. Everyone deserves a friendly face, and I believe that I could be one for those in Ravenclaw. I am not afraid to stand up for my friends and housemates.
In addition, I am also a part of a handful of clubs, such as the Creature Club and Transfiguration Club. I am hoping that as a rising fifth year that I can become a president of a club that I am, so I can help foster collaborations and friendship between different houses.
Thank you for considering my application.

Why Should You Be Prefect:Dear Professor Valenduris and Faculty,
I have respected the title of ‘prefect’ since I had the honor of watching and learning from my brother, Edison Moony. He set a strong example and I learned many lessons about what makes an excellent prefect. I will briefly explain my superior qualifications for Slytherin Fifth Year Prefect in the following paragraphs.
Dedication to Slytherin Values
I embody the best of Slytherin House. I am ambitious, resourceful, determined, and a natural leader.
I am training with Professor Foxwood to become an animagus. The animagus transfiguration is one of the most advanced forms of transfiguration. It requires intense focus, skill, and dedication. I plan on completing the potion phase before I graduate.
To build skills, independence, and experience, I work for Mr. Elias Grimstone during school breaks. This job has made me more responsible and resourceful, given me a stronger appreciation for Herbology, and taught me that I have a head for numbers.
I am a leader both in and out of class. I take initiative and ask questions. I take my lessons seriously and expect others to do the same. I do not tolerate bullies, and I stand up for people who need help.
I have built strong connections and friendships with members of other houses, further increasing the strength of Slytherin’s reputation. I value my friends and work hard to make them feel special.
I am at Hogwarts to become the best witch I can be. Never did I consider leaving Hogwarts to be someone else. Slytherin and Hogwarts are my home, and I am here to lead it to greater heights.
Quidditch Experience
My dedication to Slytherin is seen in my Quidditch record. When I didn’t make the team my first year, I showed Slytherin determination and made sure I would make the team my second year. This also shows I am adaptable. I can play multiple positions, but I am now the Slytherin Seeker.
I caught the snitch in the House Quidditch Cup last year, ending the game with a Slytherin victory. In this term I’ve individually contributed the most points of anyone on the Slytherin team. As you will recall, Slytherin scored 520 points; 300 of them were scored by me. This is approximately 58% of all points scored this season.
House Point Contribution
I also contribute House points by participating in multiple competitions. I have participated in four duels(1,2,3,4) and won three, with one tie. I have participated in three potions competitions and won this year’s, besting students with more experience. I also participate in as many extra credit opportunities as possible.
Club Involvement
I am an active club member. I joined the Dueling, Flying, Club Quidditch, and Potions club my first year. I joined Creatures club as soon as I could my third year. I intend to be the Potions club president next year. While I love Flying club, I will be leaving the club to dedicate further time to my coursework and examinations.
Commitment to Academic Excellence
I earned a full academic scholarship in my second year. I am proud of the work I do to maintain it. I've studied with older students to get ahead in classes. I enjoy making connections between different subjects. My marks are excellent, and I did not choose an easy course load. I take difficult, hands-on classes to challenge myself and to better understand the world and different people. I added Arithmancy, Care of Magical Creatures, and Muggle Studies in Third year. I plan on taking Alchemy sixth year. Obviously, I will be scoring well on all of my O.W.L.s.
Conclusion
I was a hatstall, which means I could have been suited to multiple houses, but in Slytherin I thrive. The Sorting Hat told me Slytherins take the brains of Ravenclaw and Gryffindor determination to make their own way and that Slytherin would help me grow. I am also as loyal as any Hufflepuff.
I want to grow as a leader, student, and future productive member of good, honest society. The next step in that journey is to become the fifth-year prefect for Slytherin. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Miss Anne Imogene Moony

Why Should You Be Prefect:
I should be Prefect because I believe I am currently the best incoming fifth year female Gryffindor for the role. I follow rules and rarely get in trouble - and do my best to earn points for my house at every opportunity. I am able to multitask and have shown the ability to prioritise my time to ensure that my grades do not falter with added responsibilities - I even joined the Quidditch team this year as Seeker and have shown that even with the additional requirements of my time I have not let my own grades falter.
Additionally to Quidditch I have participated in the Flying, Charms, Potions and Transfiguration clubs, though in third year I swapped Flying for Creatures as I wished to further consolidate what I learned in class in clubs; and have made many friends outside my own house and year level in these clubs and together we support each other to be the best that we can be. I have also competed in both the Dueling competition and Potions competitions as a way to showcase my learning to the broader community.
Given further responsibility I will not falter in my duty to assist the teachers in reinforcing good behaviour and penalising bad behaviour - indeed I have never been shy about confronting my own housemates in ensuring that they are on their best behaviour and I will not shy away from confrontation if somebody needs my assistance.
I hope you consider my application for Gryffindor Prefect as I will not let you down.

Why Should You Be Prefect:I believe I would make a good Head Boy. For a start I've been a prefect now for two years which has prepared me for this even greater responsibility. I've also managed to balance this with my Quidditch team responsibilities and other extra curriculars without issue. Although I feel I embody my house's core values well, I also appreciate the values of the other houses and relate just as well to students of other houses[1], [2] as I do to my own. It's also worth mentioning that after everything that's happened with my family I'm anything but a blood purist so I wouldn't discriminate against anyone.
I try my best at everything I do[1] and when I don't succeed, I try even harder. I have a younger sister and I've always tried my best to be a good role model for her and as a prefect I hope that's been the case for my fellow Ravenclaws too. Maybe I wouldn't be a perfect Head Boy but I would do everything I could to be so.

Why Should You Be Prefect:Since my first day at Hogwarts, I've strived to embody the values of our school: wisdom, hard work, and a sense of responsibility. Throughout my time here, I have dedicated myself to academic excellence. I have consistently achieved excellent marks in my classes, not merely for the sake of grades, but because I genuinely love learning. I do genuinely enjoying tutoring and helping younger students. I'm the head of the magical creatures club and volunteered to assist Professor Brierly. My passion for knowledge is what drives me, and I believe this passion is something I can share with the entire student body as Head Girl.
In addition to my academic pursuits, I have taken great pride in my role as a prefect. I have always approached my duties with seriousness and diligence, understanding the importance of setting a positive example. Whether it’s assisting younger students who are struggling to adjust to life at Hogwarts, or ensuring that my peers adhere to school rules, I have done my best to balance fairness with empathy.
Lastly, I understand the weight of responsibility that comes with being Head Girl. It’s a role that requires not only academic and extracurricular commitment but also leadership, integrity, and the ability to inspire others. I believe I possess these qualities and am ready to dedicate myself fully to this role, just as I have to every other aspect of my life at Hogwarts.

Why Should You Be Prefect:Ever since I began at Hogwarts, I've strived to be a role model for my fellow students. I've always been kind to other students, did my homework (2), and always tried my best in class. I've never been one to shy away from extracurriculars—even when I'm not particularly confident in my skills (2). I've never paraded myself around as some academic genius, but I do commit to the study of the subjects in which I thrive (2 + 3).
My most fervent desire is to be a successful socialite like my mother, and every choice I've made has been to lead me to that success. I've participated in art class—and art club—since my first year, and have always high marks in my Etiquette lessons. I have even been attending Pendergast's summer classes for Hogwarts-aged girls!
My one academic pursuit that I hold near and dear to my heart is my Transfiguration studies. I've been interested in becoming an animgaus since my third year, and have been participating in Transfiguration Club in order to further my knowledge.
I've also been a prefect since my fifth year, which I believe gives me insight to what the duties of Head Girl entail! I have an amicable relationship with my fellow prefects and house-mates. I feel fully prepared to be a role model to all the younger students, including the incoming first year girls who would inevitably look up to me as as the image of a well-bred, well-prepared young woman. With everything I have worked towards and with everything I aim to be, would it not make sense for me to wear the Head Girl's badge as well?

Why Should You Be Prefect:I believe that, if given a chance, I would make an exceptional head girl. Over my past years at Hogwarts - including two of which I acted as a Gryffindor prefect - I have shown that I am organized, intelligent, and responsible as well as capable of handling multiple tasks and high levels of stress. These qualities that you all found would make me a good the girls of my house would also make me a good role model to all the girls of Hogwarts as their head girl.
To start with, I have always been a high academic achiever. Since entering the O.W.L. level and now continuing last year in my N.E.W.T.s, I have taken the highest course loads with resulting Es and Os (except for an A in astronomy which was still an acceptable grade). This past year I was even approved to take Alchemy with Professor -. In tangent to this, I have a history of working with other students to share my knowledge in both tutoring (one-time and long-term), offering assistance in forming study tables, and
bringing notes and homework to fellow students in the Hospital Wing.
Even outside of my official Hogwarts classes, I also showed my dedication to my studies by participating in the Flint Institute's advanced summer courses in Potions, Alchemy, and magical theory, both last summer and this current one.
And I haven't just been active in academics, over the years I have been a member of the transfiguration, potions, and wizarding chess clubs even taking on a presidency in the Wizarding Chess club in my fifth year when the prior president graduated. Because of this, I have shown my capability in leading others, organizing events, working with staff, and handling conflicts between students.
Finally in my role as prefect the past two years, I have shown that I am capable of handling students fairly - even those in my own house with no favoritism. I have also shown that I am capable of handling crowds and panic should the situation arise.
Thank you for you time and consideration and I hope you too can see why I would make a wonderful head girl.

Why Should You Be Prefect:Look, there’s no point even having prefects if no one knows who they are – but at least all of my classmates (and the professors) know who I am. I’m not afraid to speak up when something needs to be said, and I have all the other Gryffindorish qualities too. I’m brave, and bold, and I bleed red through and through, and I’ve bled enough in my time to prove it.
I’m always involved in drama and answer plenty of questions in class, am good at planning schemes, take it upon myself to speak sense and solve younger students’ problems, and never mind stepping into a leader’s shoes. You might mistake me for someone from the upper classes, but I know when to take people down a peg, and know when to shut up, be loyal and even occasionally behave.
And maybe I know how troublemakers think, alright. But I’m reformed, so who better than me to catch them out?
