Seeking Biological Father - Wilhelmina Bain - April 27, 2024

I have the desire to make a secret bastard — in 1877, the mother was disgraced by your "gentleman," who was either already engaged or just refused to make up for his...error in judgement, shall we say. Someone else stepped in — possibly an older gentleman in desperate need of an heir, possibly just a really genuinely good guy — and married her, keeping her in the upper class. If her mother ended up marrying an older gentleman, I picture him recently deceased — within the last two years. I would like my character, a young woman, to find out about her mother's "incident," get curious, and seek out her biological father, with whatever reaction he might have.

I am currently looking at Josefine Frida Pettersen as a face, but I am not 100% attached.

Edit: I typoed on the year and added a detail.

RE: Seeking Biological Father - Emrys Selwyn - April 27, 2024

Emrys could maaaaaaybe work? He had a general rule against sleeping with UC debutantes SPECIFICALLY to avoid situations like this and he doesn't look much like your suggested face, but he was young enough in 1877 that mistakes could have been made, maybe. After having seen Trystan and Ambrosia in action for a few years he would have had no desire to get forced into a marriage - but his parents definitely would have forced him into one if they were aware, so we'd have to figure out a way for this all to have happened without anyone telling his dad. IDK, it might be too much of a stretch.

My other rakeish man of appropriate age, Oz, was abroad in '77.

RE: Seeking Biological Father - Elias Grimstone - April 27, 2024

Predictably, there is always Trystan (because what's one more bastard, at this point?) buuuut he would have to not have known about this pregnancy at the time & it should still be unknown to him. Also preferably there would be a Zeus-related Greek myth you could shove her in as inspiration. And if she came poking around she would also be risking the wrath of Ambrosia Selwyn, so... fair warning. xD

RE: Seeking Biological Father - Aldous Crouch - April 27, 2024

So Madoc Yarwood got married in 1877 but I don't specify when in the year. Your girl's mum could have been him chafing in his new gold-plated handcuffs, or she could have just had a paltry dowry (and boy did he want money). He has form for bastards so it's not a reach on his end xD
