Dearest Mama,

I trust this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I find myself compelled to share with you the current state of affairs from my snowy retreat by the sea.

As you know, I sought solace in the cottage, desiring the quietude that only winter by the sea can provide. However, nature, in its unpredictable whimsy, has seen fit to gift me with a rather substantial amount of snow. I find myself in a serene yet snowed-in abode, surrounded by the hush of falling flakes and the comforting crackle of the fireplace.

Do not worry, dear mother, for I am in perfect health and high spirits, finding much solace in the company of my own thoughts and the well-stocked shelves that accompany me. I have been working on a new novel which has been progressing very well - better again since the snow began. The owl carrying this missive is a sturdy creature, but I am uncertain if it will brave the elements to reach you before the snow begins to relent. Rest assured, I am safe, well, and entirely capable of weathering this temporary confinement.

Are you all safe and sound, shielded from the chill that swirls outside my cottage windows? I hear from the staff that it is just as bad everywhere. I do hope this letter reaches you swiftly so that you may impart the news of their well-being. Please do send my warm regards to all, and assure them of my safety and well-being. I eagerly await your reply, but until then, I remain safe and in good health.
