Hufflepuff Takes Quidditch Cup
Defeats Ravenclaw 230 to 200

Hufflepuff defeated the top-ranked Ravenclaw to take the Hogwarts Quidditch Cup in an easy victory on Saturday. The final score was 230 to 200, with Ravenclaw's George Waterford catching the snitch after three hours and twenty-four minutes of play.

Fifteen of the twenty-three goals for the winning team were scored by first year Calla Potts, while Ravenclaw's points were scored by captain Cecily Gallivan and fourth year Citrine Weasley. One of Hufflepuff's chasers suffered a broken arm early in the match after a bludger hit from Ravenclaw's Rupert Bingham, but gallantly finished out the game before being rushed off the pitch.

This marked the last Hogwarts game for Hufflepuff's Owain Edwards (Beater) and Ravenclaw's Cecily Gallivan (Captain & Chaser), both of which played well regardless of the match's outcome.  Miss Gallivan is likely to be succeeded as captain by Mr. Bingham, currently in his sixth year, although the official decision will not be announced until July.

Quidditch Rankings: May
Cannons Lead the League

The Quidditch League has released this month's points rankings for the British-Irish League.

1. Chudley Cannons, with four wins and no losses
2. Pride of Portree, with four wins and no losses
3. Appleby Arrows, with three wins and one loss
4. Wigtown Wanderers, with three wins and one loss
5. Puddlemere United, with three wins and one loss
6. Kenmare Kestrels, with two wins and two losses
7. Tutshill Tornadoes, with two wins and two losses
8. Holyhead Harpies, with two wins and two losses
9. Falmouth Falcons, with one win and three losses
10. Wimbourne Wasps, with one win and three losses
11. Hogsmeade Howlers, with one win and three losses
12. Montrose Magpies, with one win and three losses
13. Caerphilly Catapults, with no wins
14. Ballycastle Bats, with no wins

We hesitate to make predictions only one month into an unpredictable sport. However, it's apparent that the Cannons are making serious moves after their catastrophic loss in January's league final, making them the team to beat so far this season. Puddlemere United, last year's victors, aren't doing poorly - but they aren't killing their competition, either, and no doubt team sponsor Mr. Thom Pettigrew will be pressuring the team to improve their game going forward.

The off-season shuffle conducted by the Holyhead Harpies has also obviously paid off, and the team played particularly well against the catastrophically failing Ballycastle.
