The Nightshade Society - Amarantha Valenduris - July 29, 2023

the nightshade society • founded in 1891 • unsanctioned dark arts club

about: Are you interested in secret societies that delve deep into the Dark Arts but are too young to join the Knights of Walpurgis? Are you interested in committing illegal acts that will get you expelled from Hogwarts if not sent to Azkaban if you get caught? Do you want to end up probably killing someone in some spooky ritual and taking an unbreakable vow to never speak of it again? If that sounds like you, join The Nightshade Society! Started in 1891 by Amarantha Valenduris and three of her closest confidants, The Nightshade Society is a secret club for those interested in pursuing the Dark Arts and believe that no magic should be illegal and it is your birthright as a witch or wizard to use it. In order to be a member, you must be either upper or middle class, a pureblood or a halfblood, in your fifth year or above, been invited by another member, take an unbreakable vow, and participate in some highly illegal magic so you’re just as guilty as everyone else. All members have an amethyst poison ring that contains a tiny nightshade flower inside its compartment; the purpose is in order to get into the secret room of the castle in the dungeons where the meetings take place, you must touch the flower to the lips of the statue guarding the door. Also, on the inside of the compartment, it is enchanted to have a small engraving of what time the next meeting will occur. Most meetings occur at nighttime to avoid detection, so I hope you're not afraid of the dark.

I'm just gonna say that I wish that this society was older for the strict reason that I have a few inactives that I could see being alumni and mentor figures, especially as these peeps start graduating.

I added a section for honorary members! These are alumni who were / are friends with any members and would have known about it and would like to be involved! That way more people can join :D

With that on the table, anyone wanna say that their character is friends with Odette Tailler specifically so I can say that she's an honorary member/mentor (graduated in 1887).
