Your Very Concerned Cousin - Lucille Lukeson - April 30, 2018
April 24th, 1888
My dearest Bella,
Mother told me what happened. I am sorry I was not with you and that you felt we could not protect you. Your disappearance has caused quite a stir, no one seems to know where you are. Are you alright? Is there anything you need? Please let me know you are alright. Our friendship in the past year implores me to see to your safety and I hope you will understand the concern mother and I have for you. Wherever you are I hope you are safe, but please know I am here for you.
Your very worried friend,
L.F.

I don't think she told you everything. I don't remember her seeing her there. What is the family telling people? They didn't bother notifying anyone I was mis

I wish I could come home, but where would I go? As long as the public knows where I am, he would know as well. Does anyone know was he's done to me? He hasn't hurt anyo

My dearest Bella,
You are sorely missed here. Mother and I are terribly worried and the house seems so large and empty without you. Your parents have alerted the authorities and the papers have been wild with speculation. I, as always, ignore them. I can not ignore my worry over you.
I implore you to ease our minds and allow us an ounce of comfort in your safety. I shall continue to hold out hope that you have left me in the dark of some love of yours and have run off to live happily ever after, for which you’d have much to answer to me in the way of untold secrets between friends. But I truly do hope you are well. I shall continue to await your answer.
With love and concern,
L. F.

Dearest Bella,
I am so glad to hear that you are alright. However, I admit I am rather sore at having found out through a newspaper! Mother said there had been a stir yesterday at your home, but she hadn't mentioned anything more and seems quite content to leave me in the dark. I admit that my relief in your having been found alive is extreme but I have rarely been so upset. I should have thought us rather closer than having to find out of your circumstances through hearsay and newspapers! While you were with us I considered you my sister and had rather hoped to be afforded the same feelings on your side, but I find myself baffled how one might neglect to tell those who care about her that she is still alive!
I wish you to know that I am still here for you despite how cross I am with you and that I truly am still your very dear friend. Please, please, write to me. I miss you dearly and wish to see for my own two eyes that you really are alive.
Your deeply concerned cousin,
L. F.

I have no desire to see you to an early grave by inviting you to my temporary residence, but neither to I have any desire to return to the Flint estate or show myself in public. I suppose our meeting must wait until I find a more permanent arrangement.

Dearest Bella,
I am sorry you feel that you could not return here, but I believe I understand your reasons. You could hardly startle me with your current residence, as such I do hope you will trust me with such information as I do believe I am more likely for the grave if I were to continue worrying about you. It would ease my concern to see you safe and unharmed. As such I expect an address in your next letter. Please let me know if you are needing for anything.
