RE: I Heard the News Today, Oh - August Echelon-Arnost - May 21, 2018

Mr. Pettigrew's efforts probably would have worked better on someone who lacked a law license. As it was, August's expression was best described as 'annoyed and skeptical.'

"You know that I worked for Magical Law Enforcement, right, Mr. Pettigrew?" August said dryly, "As such, exaggerations are best directed at those who didn't."

Albert pursed his lips, followed by a dramatic roll of his eyes.

"Oh no, it's not like we worked there — together — for a few years. I wasn't aware that gentleman of Black's would have to worry about other members reporting them to law enforcement for snide comments," he retorted. "Unless you're really that petty."

"I'm saying don't lie to me to get a reaction," August said, raising an eyebrow at Thom's brother, "If you want to turn that into some dramatic example of pettiness, do what you want." He shrugged. "I don't particularly care."

"If you had any knowledge of the Ministry, you'd know the Research Committee's limits," he countered, though truly had no intention of arguing this further. It was obvious that Echelon-Arnost still felt something, whether it was affection or mere protectiveness, for the now-vampire Miss Potter, but he wasn't sure what that meant right now.

"I should keep you no longer, lest we start a scene." It was good that no other bodies were in the room at the moment (though if there had been, he supposed no conflict would have arose in the first place).
