Did you know?

The Language of the Flowers was a popular method to express feelings where words might be improper, but did you know other means of doing so? Some ladies used their parasols, as well as their fans, gloves, and hankies to flirt with a gentleman (or alternatively, tell them to shove it!). — Bree

Ester Montgomery for Thomas Montgomery. The one that got away (with the pornographer...)
This boy, then. He wasn't new. Wasn't one of the worst people in the common room, those rotten rich boys - like Mr. Jailkeeper - who could not fathom a world beyond their own farts. Was a good working class lad, so he'd heard. Had a bit of a weird looking face, and a bit of a weird thing for preaching. Still.

William Collins

Full Name: William Ambrose Collins

Nickname(s): Simply Collins; is not a fan of derivatives or presumed familiarities.

Birthdate: February 29, 1864 ( this was in fact a leap year )

Age: 24

Occupation: Curse Breaker

Blood Status: Pureblood

Residence: Portsmouth, Hampshire

Hogwarts House: Former Ravenclaw

Wand: Willow, 11.5", reasonably supple, unicorn hair

Geoffrey Collins ( deceased 1884 of the Laughing Plague, an irony not at all lost upon his eldest son and only child ) was born of the relatively affable Collins family, known best for their long held dedication to mediwizardry and developments in the care and treatment of various minor ailments often known to plague the lower class. Considered charitable but otherwise unambitious, the Collins maintained an easy neutrality that aided in the maintenance of their position in society rather well.

Geoffrey's marriage to Rebecca Hartwright therefore came as some surprise, as her family very well might have had higher prospects in mind had their eldest daughter not managed to secure herself a marriage with a notable landowner whose income nearly doubled what they had anticipated netting for all four daughters combined. It was perhaps for this reason the marriage went without too much question - the two were well matched in their dedication to aiding those in need of medical attention, and Rebecca did thrive serving as Geoffrey's potioneer.
William is five foot nine and wiry of build, bearing a pale complexion but for a milky way stripe of freckles along his collarbone with some splatter up his neck and down his chest. With the proper cravat arrangements these blemishes remain relatively contained and faded unless he has had a fair amount of sun on his skin.

Typically held in an attempt at the queue, William’s hair is springy and has a habit of bursting loose. He keeps pins in his hair to hold it from falling into his face when this happens, and when not on duty tends to keep it in a sloppy bun at the nape of his neck or in a simple tail.

Clothing wise, he keeps to practical garments that bear up well under strain on account of his work. Typically, he works with tailors who tend with sailors and laborours - both because the quality tends to be hardy, and the cost at an affordable measure.

His right hand is his dominant, though he wields his wand as commonly with the left as the right, depending on circumstance.

William has something of a locked jaw - though he feels passionately, he was taught at a very young age that fits and bursts of emotion were unseemly and inappropriate. He took his lessons seriously and learned to keep much of his true thoughts to his chest, though he is prone to the occasional fit of humor that can smack dangerously of revolutionary ideology.

He has learned that love and affection are subject to achievement - in other words, praise and admiration of his efforts is seen as a challenge to either maintain his present productivity or to strain higher; he has a terrible sense of self value which results in recklessness, a will to place the lives of others above his own, and a certainty that he is only as good as what he accomplishes.

This, unfortunately, is the result of a deep seated sense of responsibility for his mother's death. He believes, through some fault of Geoffrey, that her life was granted in exchange for his and therefore it is his obligation and duty to live a life worthy of such a sacrifice. He bears his mistakes heavily, and is dangerously humble in his triumphs.
He is absolutely terrified of heights but - if duty demanded it, or, heaven forbid, the terror of another appeared greater - he would doubtless face the challenge of his own fear to attend to matters.
  • 1864 - Born.
  • 1875 - Began attendance at Hogwarts.
  • 1876 - Had a minor disagreement with Geoffrey about the firing of their butler, Danvers. Learned a hard lesson on classism and the delicate power balance between charity and kindness.
  • 1881 - Muggleborn related tragedy sweeps the school during his sixth year.
  • 1882 - Graduates Hogwarts. Applies for internship in curse breaking after considerable discussions with his father on it.
  • 1884 - Geoffrey Collins dies. William inherits the home in Portsmouth as well as his father's affects.
  • 1885 - Transferred to an office based in New Providence, covering cursed objects and establishing his skills.
  • 1887 - Transferred back to the main office on account of operation changes and political imbalances making the New Providence office no longer sustainable for the Ministry.
  • 1888 - Presently out of commission, with work on consultation for the Auror's office as operations are developed and he awaits official posting.

✦ That after two years internship at Gringotts, he was transferred to an office in the Bahamas where he worked for two years before the office was dissolved.
✦ That his mother died in childbirth despite his father being well known as a Healer.

✦ That his father was often an at hand deniability Healer in regard to disputes, and during his youth he often assisted with duelling related injuries and maladies.

✦ That his father died during the Laughing Plague.
✦ That William holds himself accountable for his mother's death and believes he is honor bound to live a life worthy of her sacrifice. This is something that only intimate friends have any possibility of being made aware of.

Introductory threads are probably the only things about joining a new forum that have ever given me anxiety honestly - I never wholly know what to say, so I am going to just fill out a form and hope that tells you all enough.

NAME: Holmes
PRONOUNS: When it matters I grant indicators, but I tend to default he/him.
ZODIAC SIGN: Cancer / Crab
TAKEN OR SINGLE: Neither. I don’t prescribe to the societal custom of dating.

01: My greatest masochistic tendency is to go swimming in the ocean when it is windy and the tide is coming in and just letting the sea kick me around until I feel better. Downside of this was discovered on the 7th when the surf slammed me real good into a rocky portion of the shoreline and my body suffered minor fall damages.

02: My walks to and from work are sacred me time moments where I have my headphones in and music blaring and I plot out various responses to roleplays, come up with new ideas, or just plot my course for the next bit of writing / productivity I am hyped about. It’s part of my daily organizing and nothing makes me crankier than having it interrupted because my work uniform convinces people they can talk to me and I have no choice but to stop my day, take out my headphones, and accommodate them because so long as I am in uniform I am representing my company and I have no choice.

03: My favorite cheese is Balderson 2year old smoked cheddar. It is sharp as hell and absolutely divine.

PAST PLATFORMS USED: gaiaonline / msn / aim / invisionfree / proboards / H!L / skype / cbox
CURRENT PLATFORMS USED: tumblr / discord

GENDER: I enjoy writing females but I am well aware that they don’t get attention / the attention they do get on the tumblr platform tends to annoy me so I cater to the audience and write as males, but when I am not focused on demographics and I am just Doing My Own Thing it really evens out and I write across the entire gender spectrum without much of a care.
LEAST FAVORITE FACE(S): I used to have a faceclaim blacklist back when I gave a shit about running a blog for tumblr rather than running one for myself, but to make a long story short the general gist of it was:

If the faceclaim is deceased - I cannot do it.
If the faceclaim is a youtuber - I cannot do it.
If the faceclaim is someone I personally dislike or who infuriates me on the principle of past interactions - I won’t do it because I don’t want to project that on the player. This one I generally keep to myself because it’s my own business and these actors rarely come up - and when they do I simply inform the person that is a character I will not interact with on account of said reason.

FLUFF / ANGST / SMUT: All of the above, honestly. Smut is kind of touch and go though and depends on the purpose of it / who I am writing with.
PLOT / MEMES: I live for memes and turning them into stories! They are the easiest way to launch off for me, but I love plotting when there’s the seed of an idea but it needs a little hammer through.
TRIGGERS / SQUICKS: I have hard stances against getting involved in threads or storylines involving acts of sexual violence, alcohol or substance abuse ( casual drinking in sociable acceptable settings is fine; drinking in excess / as a coping mechanism or self medicating technique is not. While I am abundantly aware of the use of laudanum and opiates as medical aides in this time period, I would prefer to be excused from threads involving such matters ) pregnancy or miscarriage. While suicidal ideology can at times be reflected in my characters with those who are comfortable with it, they never rely on others to pull out of it, and I do not involve myself with characters who are actively suicidal. My only squicks would be vore and gratuitous Hannibal-level violence descriptors and I mention this only because I've had some Interesting Werewolf Encounters over the years.
