    In Character Developments

February 1887: At the Aphrodite Ball, Reuben made out with some girl named Brighid and might have ended up ruining her life. He did apologize, but this does not endear him to Olivia Pendergast at the Pendergast School of Young Roses, where she is enrolled. Ben also ran into his old friend/fling, Una Walsh, who made it clear she did not want to be friends any more.

March 1887: Ben ran into another old friend/fling, Angie Swan, who was much more amenable to continuing to be friendly and by friendly, we mean they're going to keep boning. He had a very dramatic fight with Una and made her cry at a ball. He also badgered Antigone Lestrange to dance with him on a wager. Continuing to make excellent life decisions, Reuben spent the end of March accidentally kidnapping Ellory Pendergast by not warning her not to grab his portkey which sadly is not a euphemism.

April 1887: Ben rescued Ellory Pendergast from Mexico, but her mother was still not amused by the ordeal. Actually, no one seemed amused except Ellory. He comes down with a magical illness he caught in Mexico (which he also gives to his brother Roman #whoops), then has the pleasure of being vomited on by a very drunken Ellory Pendergast. He takes a flying carpet to her windowsill to try and comfort her also not a euphemism but they end up parting on a sour note.

May 1887: Ben and Ellory reconcile because he finds out he has a cane that can stop time, and they have fun playing pranks on people. He finally makes his trip to Mexico, and comes back with a Titi Monkey he did not intend to keep but somehow ended up keeping and naming Ignatius. The Unspeakables start hunting him down for time shenanigans. Ignatius gets him in some trouble.

June 1887: After Ellory makes a joke about marrying Roman, Ben decides he's a little miffed at his brother and "accidentally" kidnaps him to Ankara, where he spends the entire trip antagonizing him. This conspicuous absence of his brother earns him a place on Britain's "no portkey" list, though he doesn't realize it immediately. He comes back home in time to be super mean to Ellory, but then reconciles with her when she accidentally splinches herself at a party and he's forced to get her to a hospital. Olivia Pendergast still isn't thrilled about it, but by this point they've both admitted to having ~feelings for each other which is about as close to being a successful ship as they're ever likely to get.

July 1887: After deciding he really doesn't want to deal with any of the feelings he's getting from his continued interactions with Ellory, Ben takes off to France for an impromptu holiday and shags the hell out of poor Moïsette Bourdillon. This turned out to be a poorly timed vacation, since there was a disaster back in England and everyone assumed he'd died. Aldous reports him missing when his body wasn't recovered from the Wizarding World Market ruins, and the aurors search his things and end up confiscating a bunch of his stuff. He found out later that Olivia Pendergast had died in the wreckage, and the fact that Ellory doesn't seem too heartbroken about it emboldens him to start flirting with her again because what could possibly go wrong there?

August 1887: His attempts to cozy up to Ellory backfire entirely when he stops by her window at midnight and instead ends up running into two of her cousins. He sort of realizes what a terrible idea it is to try and see her and tries to push her away via letter. When that doesn't work, he sends her a letter calculated to break her heart by implying he's much more of a cad than he actually is--but unfortunately it works a little too well and everyone who reads it apparently believes him. Ellory's sister goes batshit crazy and tries to talk Aldous into disowning him, but his brother opts to send him to Canada instead to let things cool down. Ben spends the rest of the month on a boat contemplating his poor life choices.

    Head Canons

Ben has a thing for sassy redheads, but tells people he prefers buxom blondes with no brains because he thinks that's more mainstream.

Roman and Reuben are both very alergic to cat hair/dander, but oddly enough have no problem with kneazles.

Ben bought himself a broomstick as a graduation gift, and has used the same one ever since. Her name is Adelaide and they've been through a lot together.

If it wasn't for the 'unfortunate incident with a thunderbird' which resulted in his first wand breaking in 1883, Ben never would have met Una Walsh; he only struck up a conversation with her father because he was desperately soliciting directions to the nearest wand shop.

Reuben isn't the best with practical magic. What he can do well is mostly skill gained by repetition, not innate talent. He can, however, cast a charm which moves an article of clothing four feet to the right nearly perfectly, every time, no matter how intoxicated or tired he is. It's mostly used to get women out of dresses without having to figure out where the laces, buttons, or snaps are.

Ben finds excuses not to take cursebreaking commissions in Asia, because in his mind the whole continent sort of belongs to Aldous/the late Mr. Crouch after they went traveling there. He went to India once for two weeks but he felt weird and awkward about it the whole time, like he was borrowing his older brother's experiences.

    Lynn's Goals

Thread with every redheaded woman on the board.

Get Reuben into the sort of trouble his brothers have to bail him out of. Yeah I'd say we've got that one ticked off by now.
