Did you know?

The Language of the Flowers was a popular method to express feelings where words might be improper, but did you know other means of doing so? Some ladies used their parasols, as well as their fans, gloves, and hankies to flirt with a gentleman (or alternatively, tell them to shove it!). — Bree

WANTED:

Ester Montgomery for Thomas Montgomery. The one that got away (with the pornographer...)
This boy, then. He wasn't new. Wasn't one of the worst people in the common room, those rotten rich boys - like Mr. Jailkeeper - who could not fathom a world beyond their own farts. Was a good working class lad, so he'd heard. Had a bit of a weird looking face, and a bit of a weird thing for preaching. Still.

He stands at an oddly tall six feet, two inches. He has a strong, solid, well chiseled body. His violet eyes seem to be piercing, and equal parts alluring and unnerving. He is left handed by birth, though ambidextrous by training. Both with his wand, quill, and instruments. He has long, thick black hair, and a face that seems almost chiseled. Some have even described him as being “pretty.” He tends to be found in one of his many suits, usually black or dark blue for the jacket and trousers, and red or white for the undershirt. He holds himself with a strong, graceful bearing.
PERSONALITY
Damen was once very withdrawn, though polite and professional, he rarely spoke, letting his work and music speak for him. A deep rooted sadness was often seen in his eyes, though he never showed much emotion. Over the last few months more and more passion seemed to burst force from the young man, culminating with the day his blood and sweat brought his family back to their ancestral status. That day as he returned home, he broke down in his study and burst into tears. Tears born of sorrow, stress, and finally joy.
OTHER
HISTORY
He was born late at night in his family's home. That night was home to a large thunderstorm. All his life he has felt at peace, and inspired by the rain and lightning. At the age of three, he was rummaging around in his father's belongings and drank a strange potion. It seemed to have no effect, except for his eyes changing to an odd shade of violet. When he was six years old he encountered a young woman playing the violin on the street. That day he found his love for music, and soon began taking violin lessons. As a belated birthday present, his mother bought him a simple violin. His musical style ended up on the more epic, haunting side of classical. He was bullied heavily for being so quiet, and so spent much of his time in his grandparents’ old library. He also began exercising very often, usually while coming up with stories and poetry. His life more or less went on like this, only interrupted by the births of his younger sisters, whom he adored. It was not until just before his fifth year at Hogwarts that something cracked the walls he had tried so hard to raise. His father, an Auror, was killed in the line of duty. He sacrificed himself to save his partner. It was never released what had led to his father’s death, but it hit him and his family hard. His mother soon became sick, and he himself was overcome by depression. His poetry became darker, and he spent more time in his room than normal, no longer eating healthily. He was in a daze as he boarded the Hogwarts Express for the fifth year. Sadly his family, losing their only source of income no longer afford to hold itself up without work, and they fell in stature to a working class family. That summer he started putting out fliers offering lessons on singing, violin, and piano, so that he could support his family. Every summer since he continued, coming to master the techniques he taught, as well as new ones. By his seventh year he had also become proficient with the flute. He graduated, as with every other year, with all E's and O's, and had proven himself to be an excellent and gifted duelist, as one might expect from someone chosen by an Aspen wand. Over the course of his life, he also learned Italian, French, German, and Latin. When he was nineteen he opened his own shop out of which to tutor, allowing his eldest sister to have the peace and quiet needed to nurse their mother. He taught his family for free, and charged the upper and middle class students a fair, but profitable price. He offered discounted, and sometimes free lessons to the working class, which were of the same quality as the higher classes. As his business grew in students, he began purchasing instruments for donations to his most promising students of the lower class. While his music is still often dark and haunting after the loss of his father, the years have brought him hidden joys. Using the business, he funded each of his sister's schooling. He was proud of his sisters as they graduated one after another. leaving only the youngest in Hogwarts still. Elizabeth had graduated to become a mediwizard, surpassing the abilities of their mother, she had been a Hufflepuff. Rebecca has still not yet decided her career, ending her time as a Ravenclaw just last year. She Has often been found helping Damen at his shop. And Destiny, yet another Hufflepuff, excelled when dealing with magical creatures. Another item he picked up, and learned to play during a brief visit to Italy with a wealthy patron's family, was the ocarina. Which he found to produce some of the clearest and most beautiful melodies and has become one of his favorite instruments to play and teach. Over the last year he has expanded his store to include his own study and small school for teaching students of all classes. With these investments of his own and investments from those he has worked closely with he was finally in January able to pull the strings with his reforged connections and hard earned wealth to bring his family back into the Middle Class. Though many sneer or whisper behind his back, those he has connected with respect the dedication and ambition that has lead him to where he is now. His music these past couple months has taken on a new quality, while known for his haunting and beautiful melodies he has been working on a new piece. He finally feels that he has made his father proud.]
